ATM Machine

ATM is an abbreviation for Automated Teller Machine. This machine that dispenses money was first installed in the world by the British bank Barclays in 1967. The inventor of ATM is John Shepherd Barron, a Scotsman born in Meghalaya in 1925. Englishman James Goodfellow, American Donald C. Wetzel, and Luther Simjian are all behind the current form of ATM. HSBC Bank installed the first ATM in India. It was in Mumbai in 1987. In 1992 , the British Bank of the Middle East installed the first ATM in Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram. According to the 2019 census, there is one ATM for every 3688 people in Kerala and one bank branch for every 5220 people. (Branch count : 7421, ATM count: 9011). CDM machines, which can deposit money, are also widespread today. ATMs are known by many names in different countries, such as automated banking machine, cash line, cash point time machine, cash dispenser, and bankomat.
