Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited (KTIL)

Established in August 1989 to encourage tourism investment and construct tourism infrastructure in the Indian state of Kerala. Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd. or (KTIL), originally known as Tourist Resorts (Kerala) Limited, is a Government of Kerala initiative under the Kerala Tourism Department. KTIL was designed to determine the state's infrastructure needs for tourism and fill in any gaps found. Kerala's tourism industry is currently expanding at an incredible rate while upholding the values of community involvement, environmental sustainability, and indigenousness. Both domestic and foreign tourists are drawn to Kerala's beaches, hill stations, backwaters, wildlife reserves, historical landmarks, etc. There is a discrepancy between supply and demand as a result of the infrastructural deficit in many tourism services brought about by the development in tourism. To solve this problem and spur growth, KTIL is developing a number of partnership, investment, and development models. For government initiatives like Sarovaram Bio Park, Thalassery Heritage Tourism Circuit Development, and Thali Project, KTIL served as the implementing agency.

The nodal organization in charge of incorporating these design concepts into brand-new public tourist initiatives is Kerala tourist Infrastructure Ltd. (KTIL). Kerala tourist Infrastructure Limited (KTIL) develops strategies for the development of new destinations, creates tourist master plans, and offers consulting services to the public and commercial sectors. Major industry companies like Taj and Oberoi Hotels of India have signed joint venture agreements with the organization. The Design Policy for Kerala, the Heli Tourism Policy, and the Cruise Tourism Policy are just a few of the important policy frameworks that KTIL has created for the State. KTIL finds possible proposals, facilitates their approval, and oversees their implementation as the State's designated nodal agency for centrally sponsored tourism initiatives like Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD), and Swadesh Darshan. In response to the success of Kerala Tourism Version 1.0, KTIL developed Kerala Tourism Version 2.0 as an alternative development model.

Kerala Design Policy

India's first comprehensive design policy for tourism infrastructure was introduced in September 2024 with Kerala's "Design by Future" program. It focuses on enhancing public assets including bridges, streetscapes, signage, and historic buildings in terms of their esthetics, usability, sustainability, and cultural authenticity. The policy promotes eco-friendly travel and seeks to improve the usability of public areas. The policy emphasizes strengthening public-private collaborations, fostering a design-driven economy, and establishing Kerala as a global hub for creative and socially conscious design. The nodal organization in charge of incorporating these design concepts into brand-new public tourist initiatives is Kerala tourist Infrastructure Ltd. (KTIL).
