Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB)
The Kerala Road Fund Board, which was founded in 2001 by the Kerala government, is a funding organization that offers financial support for the state's transport facility projects. It is essential to Kerala's overall infrastructure development. The Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) was established in response to the Kerala State Public Works Department's need for a professional and statutory organization to handle fund management. Established under the Kerala Road Fund Act, its principal purpose is to organize and supervise non-budgetary money for the construction and upkeep of roads and other associated infrastructure. Based on scientific study, KRFB views itself as the organization that assists in identifying and promoting Kerala Roads' effective strategies.
The KRFB is tasked with carrying out developmental initiatives such as these in order to mobilize more non-budgetary resources with the aid of increased private sector collaboration. They are
• Managing the fund and keeping an eye on and overseeing the road development-financed operations
• Encouraging involvement of the public and private sectors in infrastructure projects
• Financing feasibility studies for creative road initiatives
• Building new roads as needed
• Putting road safety initiatives and campaigns into action to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow
• Financing studies pertaining to road development and maintenance
• Enhancing current road networks, especially PWD-maintained roads
• Implementing state-of-the-art initiatives in cities, such as Metro Rail Projects and Rapid Transit Systems
• To raise money by taking out loans that are required for the proper performance of its duties
