Kerala State Warehousing Corporation (KSWC)

The Warehousing Act of 1962 established the Kerala State Warehousing Corporation (KSWC), a statutory corporation. The Central Warehousing Corporation and the Kerala government both own equal shares in it. The idea behind the whole warehousing scheme is to give scientific storage to the agricultural produce. KSWC has 55 warehouses spread throughout the State, with an average capacity of 4,282 MT per unit and a total storage capacity of 2.36 lakh MT. A warehouse can store any kind of agricultural commodity as well as other commodities that are occasionally notified by the government. The aim of the entire warehousing scheme is to allow farmers simple access to financing and holding power so they may sell their produce at a higher price. The depositor will receive a warehouse receipt that includes the quantity, quality, market worth, and particulars of insurance against fire, theft will be issued to the depositor.

In order to manage the import and export of products through the State's ports, KSWC also operates a customs bonded warehouse and container goods station in the Ernakulam District. The Kerala State Warehousing Corporation has built new warehouses with capacities of 2,345 MT at Kozhinjampara, 1,393 MT at Mavelikkara, 3,433 MT at Muthalamada, 672 MT at North Paravur, and 1,217 MT at Thalassery with funding from the NABARD Warehouse Infrastructure Fund. Furthermore, the construction of warehouses at Sasthamkotta (1,840 MT capacity) and Punalur (2,606 MT capacity) is almost finished. In response to evolving storage needs, the Corporation has started building contemporary warehouses with cold storage capabilities. At Vandanmedu Warehouse, a brand-new cold storage facility was already operational. The Corporation provides pest management services for a range of public, commercial, and governmental organizations as part of its diversification of business.
