Malabar Cements Ltd (MCL)

Although the company was incorporated in 1978, production at its Walayar plant in Palakkad district commenced in 1984. The plant has an annual production capacity of 420,000 tonnes of cement. Malabar Cements has won a national award for its outstanding initiatives in energy conservation. Within 15 years of commencing operations, the company was able to meet 10 percent of Kerala's domestic cement consumption.
