Kerala State Palmyrah Product Development and Workers Welfare Corporation Ltd (KELPALM)

KELPALM commenced operations in 1985 with the aim of safeguarding the interests of workers in the sector and promoting the development of various products derived from the palmyra palm. The Corporation has established support centers at Kottamam (Thiruvananthapuram district) and Kallepully (Palakkad district) to serve workers who rely on palmyra-based products for their livelihood. KELPALM spearheads various welfare schemes for these workers, including insurance coverage and financial assistance. The Corporation began manufacturing soft drinks at its Kottamam Facility Center in 1991. Palm Lahar, Palm Syrup, and Palm Squash are the names of its products. Additionally, Kottamum Center started educating Palmyrah workers to make palm leaf and palm fiber products. The Kalleppully center was established to process palm fiber from fronds, which are abundant in the Palakkad District. 

The main objects to be pursued by the Corporation are:

1) To carry out a plan for Palmyrah workers' financial security.

2) To set up industrial, marketing, and production facilities for palmyrah products

3) The cultivation of palmyrah
