Kerala Cashew Board Limited (KCB)

The State Government established KCB in 2017 as a special purpose vehicle with the primary goal of acquiring and providing Raw Cashew Nuts (RCN) at a fair price to Kerala's cashew processing facilities, guaranteeing workers regular employment and wages. Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation Ltd. (KSCDC) and CAPEX receive RCN from KCB, which guaranties the 40 industries under these two organizations to run year-round and employ people. Additionally, KCB makes sure that CAPEX and KSCDC profit from RCN's most competitive purchase pricing.

The major challenge faced by the Kerala Cashew Board is that of lack of adequate finance for procurement of Raw Cashew Nuts during peak season. The repayment from KSCDC and CAPEX are only about 50 to 60 percent of the cost incurred and the rest is financed by the State Government by way of working capital loans to bridge the gap. The cash credit facility from Kerala Bank is also utilised for the purchase of Raw Cashew Nuts.
