Forest Industries (Travancore) Ltd was initially established as a Kerala Government Undertaking under the Department of Industries. Forest Industries (Travancore) Ltd (FIT) is the only public sector undertaking in this field engaged in the manufacture of furniture and allied wood-based products. The company was established in 1946. The organization became a Kerala Government Company in 1960. Forest Industries (Travancore) Limited is a pioneer in furniture manufacturing since 1961. Initially, it manufactured products for FACT using timber sourced by the Forest Department. However, after 1962, FACT changed its processes, leading to the discontinuation of the collaboration by 1963. Today, it produces furniture for government departments as well as for commercial purposes. Forest Industries (Travancore) Ltd has installed furnitures and civil construction works for the Government and other commercial institutions. They include Kerala Legislature Complex, Kerala High Court, Kerala Kalamandalam and many more. FIT is located in Thaikkattukara, near Aluva.
