Ayush Department, Kerala

AYUSH is a department under the Kerala government. On June 18, 2015, AYUSH was split off from the Department of Health and Family Welfare to prioritize Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. To improve healthcare, education, and research in these systems, a distinct department was established. This department's main duties include creating policies pertaining to Kerala's traditional and alternative health systems, overseeing government agencies, and organizing different initiatives. In addition to promoting Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, the department manages healthcare, education, and research initiatives in the state's AYUSH sector. It operates through a number of directorates and independent organizations that oversee and manage medical schools, hospitals, research facilities, and wellness initiatives. The Cabinet Minister for Health and Family Welfare oversees the administrative operations of the AYUSH Department.
