Kerala IT Parks

Kerala has many government-backed and private IT parks that serve in the field of technology and other employment areas. They are as follows.

Technopark

Established in 1990 with just 50 employees in a single building named 'Pamba' (spanning 8,000 square feet), Technopark is now home to 465 companies. It employs 64,000 people directly, while another 125,000 are indirectly employed through their association with the park. Companies operate out of buildings named Periyar, Pamba, Nila, Chandragiri, Gayathri, Bhavani, and Tejaswini. The first IT park was inaugurated during E.K. Nayanar's tenure as Chief Minister, following the acquisition of a 50-acre tract of hilly, scrub-covered land known as 'Vaidyankunnu'—previously under the University of Kerala. With the completion of the third phase of development, Technopark now possesses 800 acres of land. It houses three Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The majority of the workforce in these companies consists of IT professionals from various states across India. 'Technocity' represents the proposed fourth phase of Technopark's development. Technocity is set to open up vast opportunities for the IT sector, including fields like biotechnology and nanotechnology. It is being developed on a 500 acre site near the CRPF camp at Pallippuram.

Infopark

Infopark in Kerala was started in 2004. Located in the commercial hub of Kakkanad, Kochi, it is a major dynamic tech destination with modern SEZ and non-SEZ facilities. It also operates satellite campuses in Thrissur and Cherthala.

SmartCity, Kochi

SmartCity Kochi was established as a company on January 27, 2006, with its first phase officially inaugurated on 2016. It is a joint venture project alongside Infopark in Kochi focusing on high-end IT, finance, and media infrastructure.

Cyberpark, Kozhikode (Calicut)

Cyberpark in Calicut was established on January 28, 2009. It is the primary IT hub for the Malabar region of Kerala, designed to promote tech growth in northern districts.
